
Steve & Judy started Square Dancing in 1976 with the Jesters Square Dance Club in Salt Lake City, UT. They were introduced to Round Dancing in their beginning Square Dance class. Steve & Judy took Round Dance classes from John and Norma Gordon. They started teaching Round Dancing in 1979 with one couple. 2009 is the 30th anniversary of teaching Round Dancing. Now their teaching is three nights a week, including Phase II through Phase VI. They have been doing the Rounds for the Rocketeers Square Dance Club for 6 years. After 20 years of not Square Dancing they took the Beginning Square Dance Class and graduated for the second time in May 2005. Steve & Judy have taken International Ballroom lessons to improve their dancing and teaching. There has been a lot of travel with weekends in New Jersey, Alaska, Idaho, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Montana and California. Fishlake Frolic has been a fun time for the past 3 years.
Steve and Judy are members of National Carousels, with Club #158 in Salt Lake City, UT. They are members of Roundalab, ASDCU (Utah State Square Dance Association) and ICBDA (International Choreographed Ballroom Dance Association). They are past presidents of the Utah Round Dance Association. They held 3 cuers schools in Salt Lake City and conducted cuer’s clinics in conjunction with weekends in other states.
Some of the dances they have choreographed are Love Story Bolero, This Can't Be Love, Sentimental Me Bolero, Good Luck Charm Jive, San Francisco and Today.
Steve and Judy are self-employed. Both enjoy gardening and fishing and target shooting. Steve likes to build and fly radio control gliders. Four years ago Steve started riding his bicycle and now rides several hundred miles a year. Judy sews most of their dance costumes and does genealogy as time permits. They have two children and four grandchildren.
